Yesterday in Singapore, there were five new Covid-19 clusters. In addition, another 596 confirmed cases with hundreds linked to foreign dormitories for staff. At Woodlands Lodge I, Changi Lodge II, 51 Paya Ubi Industrial Park, 17 Jalan Besut, and Sembawang Shipyard the new clusters are in.
Two more purpose-built dormitories sheltered. There were Cassia @ Penjuru with 29 cases and Avery Lodge with 24 cases. Among yesterday’s 596 new cases, 544 are holders among work permits who live in dormitories. Just 25 are permanent residents or Singaporeans. In addition, there was no imported cases.
The center has carried out a comprehensive premises cleaning and disinfection and is closely monitoring the health of its employees and children attending the school.
For the 2,921 confirmed patients currently in hospital, most are stable or recovering while the intensive care unit holds 22 patients in critical condition. There are 2,888 cases of Covid-19 being clinically stable but still testing positive. Each patient in a different room and they are taken care of in town buildings.
Singapore currently has the largest number of reported cases of coronavirus in South East Asia with 6,588 cases, overtaking Indonesia with 6,575 cases and the Philippines with 6,259 cases.
Of the new events, 68 per cent are associated with identified clusters. Meanwhile, while the remainder are still awaiting contact tracing.
For 528 cases previously unlinked, the Ministry of Health has discovered ties over the last week.
MOH said that most of the work permit holders infected are young, have mild illnesses. The monitoring in community isolation aims to prevent the Covid-19 spread. General hospital also provides the facilities. All of these are in the intensive care unit.
So far 11 people have died from complications due to infection with Covid-19.
