On Sunday, Maharashtra reported the highest number of COVID-19 cases in a day, with as many as 552 people testing positive coronavirus, bringing the state total of such cases to 4200, health officials said.
Twelve COVID-19 patients died Sunday, raising Maharashtra’s death toll to 223, the officials said.
Up to now, the official said there were 507 COVID-19 patients into the state after treatment.
Of the 12 deaths recorded on Sunday, the official said six were from Mumbai. Then, four from Malegaon and one each from Solapur and Ahmednagar districts.
Of the 4,200 cases Mumbai has reported 2,724 cases and 132 COVID-19 deaths so far. The division Thane, which includes Mumbai, has 3,214 cases and 148 deaths, said the official.
Latur division has 12 cases of coronavirus infection but so far no death. Division Akola has 58 cases and 3 deaths, and divisions in Nagpur have 72 cases and one death due to the global pandemic.
The State also has 13 people admitted to different hospitals from neighboring states. The official said that two patients passed away while being treated.
Until now, Maharashtra has seen 72,023 exams, of which 67,673 have been negative.
The state boasts 368 successful containment areas. Authorities have formed 6,359 squads that have completed surveillance of 23,97 Lakh people, he said.
When the official discussed about the large number of positive cases, another health official said people should note that the infection with coronavirus is still in a growing stage. Therefore, Indians should be more careful of this COVID-19.
“The factors for such a large number of people testing positive for COVID-19 are intensive monitoring, touch tracking and normal progression course, he said.
