The world’s largest lockdown of coronavirus , India, will extend its lockdown from May 4 for two weeks. The Indian government said Friday (May 1) about the lockdown in India, but with some easing of restrictions-including for alcohol.
The lockdown enforced near the end of March caused suffering for millions of workers in India’s large informal sector. And it hits Asia’s third-biggest economy by a major blow.
In a statement the home ministry said that despite “major improvements in the COVID-19 situation,” areas with few or no cases will see “important relaxations.”
Due to the lockout, air traffic and passenger trains ceased. And only “critical goods” were permitted to be transported, creating major problems as well as much uncertainty for industry and agriculture.

Hundreds of thousands of migrant laborers in particular left as an unemployment. It causes a massive migration of people back to their home villages, many on foot, and leaving others dependent on handouts.
However, as of Friday, with 1,152 deaths, the stringent restrictions were credited. It is holding reported cases of coronavirus to around 35,000 cases.
But some experts have said the massive 1.3 billion nation, home to some of the world’s most overcrowded cities where “social distancing” is nearly impossible. It is not enough to check all of them.
Additionally, there are fears that if the virus catches hold in a big way, India’s healthcare system will be seriously strained-badly. Then, international comparison will support it either.
India divides red zones with “significant risk of infection spreading;” green zones with zero cases or no reported cases in the past 21 days; and those as orange in between.
This represents a high concentration of cases in many urban areas. For instance, New Delhi, Mumbai, Pune and Ahmedabad but in many rural areas of the country, very few or none.
