The dispute between Turkey and France is getting furious. This prompted Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to call on his citizens to boycott all French products. Mr Macron has become a target in several Muslim-majority countries after his defence of French secularism.
France and Turkey are often in intense situation
French President Emmanuel Macron described Islam as a religion “in crisis” throughout the world. In addition, in early October, Macro announced how to encounter “radicalization”. Thus, it is among the Muslim population of France of about six million people.
Tensions within France escalated after the murder of Samuel Paty, a high school teacher who showed his students a picture of the Prophet Muhammad in a discussion about free speech.
The two leaders have also clashed in recent months over issues ranging from the conflict in Libya to eastern Mediterranean oil exploration.
The Turkish president asked his citizens not to buy products from France
The call to boycott French products in Turkey came after calls to boycott French products in the Middle East and several countries with a Muslim majority. This is also true because of the protests against Macron who promised France would not change its attitude.
“I begged my citizens. Never pay attention to French brands. Don’t buy it. What is the problem that hit this man named Macron with Islam and Muslims? Macron needs mental care, “Erdogan said at an event in the Turkish capital, Ankara, quoting from Blommberg, Tuesday (27/10/2020).
Macron has sought to defend planned reforms by saying all communities should live under laws that do not conflict with French secular values.
In addition, the authorities have ordered the closure of a Paris suburban mosque and launched several raids against groups accused of contributing to the radicalization of youth.
Going to Azerbaijan and Libya, Macron has questioned Erdogan’s support for rival camps and called this support “reckless and dangerous”.
