Changes in the work strategy of organizations and companies around the world are needed to catch up with the current development. This results in new challenges that need to be faced. Those who face these challenges well have a guarantee to keep operating until the next challenge comes. One of the strategy changes was a strategy regarding the skills of employees.
We summarize data from a survey conducted by the World Economic Forum on various companies and organizations in Indonesia.
The first strategy change with a percentage of 94% is to increase the work automation. Automation enables the replacement of human workers with machines, robots, or AI.
Secondly, with a percentage of 82%, namely by retraining the employees. In addition, companies and organizations also expect employees to learn new skills in their time working at the organization or company. Both of these have the same goal. It is so that existing employees develop new skills that are more relevant to the needs of the times.
As many as 76% of companies or organizations will make strategic changes by hiring new employees who have skills relevant to the latest technology for temporary. Meanwhile, 59% of companies chose a change in strategy in hiring freelancers for this.
71% of companies in Indonesia will replace certain business functions by hiring external services with related functions or outsourcing. Thus, a company or organization does not need to have staff in all business functions. Because, the company can contract other companies in related fields.
53% Changed strategy by reducing business strategy or staff lacking skills in using the latest technology.
From the data that has been presented, it can be concluded that companies and organizations need staff who learn new skills and develop them. In addition, new skills that are relevant to the latest technology will be needed in various fields, both as permanent and casual workers. Staff’s lacking ability in using the new technology will trigger company or organization to reduce the number of workers.
