Foxconn, the world’s largest iPhone production facility, will reportedly hire at least 20,000 new people. This is because orders have exploded due to the popularity of iPhone 13 in China despite the U.S.-China conflict. Moreover, Apple is set to release a mid- to low-end 5G iPhone on the 8th of next month. Foxconn even paid an introduction fee from an employee recommending factory workers.
Foxconn, which is suffering from manpower shortages, has decided to hire 20,000 new factory workers and has been conducting interviews since the 6th.
The hiring conditions for Foxconn’s Zhengzhou plant are somewhat unconventional. Foxconn will pay up to 7,500 yuan in bonuses (more than 90 days of service and valid working conditions for more than 55 days) only to new recruiters. In addition, Foxconn employees who introduced workers will be provided with an introduction fee of 500 yuan.
The hourly wage of Foxconn’s Zhengzhou plant is 25 yuan. If you work eight hours a day, your daily wage is 200 yuan. When working on the 25th, the salary is 5,000 yuan (separate from welfare such as meals). Overtime allowances are separate. In other words, 7,500 yuan will be paid separately after three months.
People from all over China are gathering, including a chef who recently lost his job due to COVID-19. He came to a Foxconn interview after hearing that he could receive 5,000 yuan and a separate bonus if he worked eight hours on the 25th. He added that people with similar circumstances also applied to Foxconn.
However, job seekers at Foxconn prefer temporary workers to regular workers. The media added that it is difficult to work for a long time because Foxconn Apple’s smartphone production work is simple labor that does not require technology.
Citing market research firm Canalis data, Global Times said Apple regained its No. 1 spot in sales in China in the fourth quarter of last year due to the success of the iPhone 13 series, the first time in more than six years since 2015. In the meantime, Apple cited the prospect of Taiwanese market research firm TrendForce that it will produce about 243 million iPhones this year, an increase of 5.4 percent year-on-year.
Meanwhile, according to Zhengzhou Customs in Henan Province, exports of mobile phones in Henan Province rose 17.8% year-on-year to 272.72 billion yuan. Mobile phones accounted for 28.9% of Henan Province’s total exports last month.
