The number of smartphone shipments from China in January 2022 recorded 33,022,000 units, down 17.7% from the same month last year, according to the report on the 18th by CNA.
The media quoted related statistics released by the CAICT under the Chinese Ministry of Industrial New Technology late the previous day.
It is the first time in four months that shipments have declined. Shipment volume has been greatly reduced as supply has been restricted due to a lack of semiconductors. Delayed replacement of customers’ mobile phones also led to sluggish sales.
In December last year, smartphone shipments surged 25.6 percent to 33.401 million units.
According to CAICT, shipments of 5th generation mobile telecommunication (5G) smartphones in January were 26.322 million units, down 3.5 percent from the same month last year, accounting for 79.7 percent of the total.
Smartphones, including 5G responses, shipped 32.366 million units, down 18.2% from the same month last year. It accounted for 98.0% of the total.
The proportion of domestic and foreign companies in shipped mobile phones fell 24% to 25.652 million units, accounting for 77.7% of the total.
The newly released mobile phone in January was 30, 43.4% less than last year. Among them, only 15 models saw a 53.1% decrease in 5G response.
In 2021, the number of mobile phone shipments increased 13.9% year-on-year to 351 million.
