KDDI Corp, a Japanese mobile carrier restored services after a massive system failure. This has affected nationwide network troubles attacking almost 40 million users. Worse, the system failure has made calls and online difficult for more than twenty four hours. The disruptions began on Saturday around 1:35 a.m. A wide range of services like weather data, parcel delivery, banking, and transportation encountered troubles. These services received system failures using KDDI networks.
Makoto Takahashi, KDDI President, commented that the biggest system failure was from the carrier’s history. He said that the firm regrets the situation as a telecommunications carrier to support infrastructure and stabilise services. The firm was working hard to recover around 70% of services by mid-morning on the next day. In addition, KDDI also plans to recover the test by around 5.30 p.m.
However, the situation was quite different. Users encountered the issues still as of 6 p.m. This would signify the continuing system failure after 40 hours since it began. KDDI on the other hand argued that they used the time to verify network tests with sets of repair completions. They also begin to restrict flow volumes.
So far, around 39.15 million users including 260.000 corporates got the direct impact from the system failure. The major trigger was due to the equipment malfunction in providing voice call services. More cases about the system failure are still under investigation. Moreover, it also affected the transmission of weather data at the Meteorological Agency. Then, the automated teller machine at Ogaki Kyoritsu Bank also encountered errors. Ogaki Kyoritsu Bank is a regional bank in Japan. The firm also controls system for the parcel delivery at Yamato Holdings.
