Businesses are still under the impression that extroverts are more excellent than introverts at work. Accordingly, this makes companies prefer to hire an extrovert for a job.
The aforementioned decisions are arguably not baseless. As many companies indicate, they believe that extroverts excel at working in teams, thanks to the their so-called better social and communication skills.
Researchers from University of Toronto published a study that extroverts experience advantages over introverts. Of those, it includes better employment chance.
“There’s been much debate in popular culture recently about the advantages and disadvantages extroverts have in the workplace, but it often overlooks the scientific literature,” says Michael Wilmot, the lead researcher of the study.
Companies tend to employ a non-scientific way of thinking upon considerations while hiring employees. To be more specific, they have the tendency to think that introverts are more passive and hard to approach, unlike their extroverted peers.

Extrovert and Job Performance: How do They Compare to Introverts?
The topic of extroverts vs introverts has been widely discussed for the past decades. People tend to think both of them ‘contradictory to each other.’
While introverts are viewed as passive and quiet, people think that extroverts are more proactive, loud, and energetic. Additionally, the stereotype also applies in job employment.
Viewing at the scientific findings, however, that is not always the case. Some studies, in addition, even prove the opposite, displaying results that introverts also perform better at work in certain aspects.
For instance, a 2010 study reported that extroverts do not always perform better at work. The study analyzed and found that introvert bosses perform better at their job than an extrovert one.
That said, public still generally perceives extroverts as a better option. This rule of thumb might be understandable for introverts, indeed, often show passive behavior, making people suspect that they might not get along well with their co-workers at work. But, still, that is not always the case.
