Besides damaging various industrial sectors, coronavirus outbreak also ironically gives certain businesses, such as video conferencing, an advantage. Among the companies gaining the benefits of COVID-19 is Telegram.
Basically, Telegram is a messenger tools offering free messaging services like those of Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp. The software comes in two different types, Telegram and Telegram X.
Recently, Telegram reached a total of more than 500 million downloads on Google Play Store. The number of growth quickens as last month there were 400 million downloads and 300 million last year.
In addition, the rising popularity of messenger and video conferencing tools will predictably bring Telegram to a better position. This is so considering that the length of lockdowns and social distancing throughout the world is currently unpredictable.
The free-to-use tools have witnessed an increase of approximately 1.5 million new sign ups every day according to the company. The performance is considerably magnificent considering that the tools are previously not available on different devices.

Telegram to Launch Group Video Calls in Response to COVID-19 Lockdown
Telegram stated that, during the COVID-19 lockdown, its apps have been widely used to facilitate telecommuting (WFH) and online learning. The company claims that it has been happy to be able to contribute to the community during these hard days.
To better the service, Telegram will release a new feature, which is group video calls. Though the release date is yet to be certain, the company promises that it will come later this year.
Furthermore, the company also reassures users that the feature will be highly secure. Accordingly, security in video conferencing has become a hot issue ever since Zoom received numerous cyber attacks.
However, Telegram is not alone in providing such services. Tech giants like Facebook and Google have also begun their way to develop similar features. Zoom is also working on improving its security issues.
