Mi Band 5, Xiaomi’s next-generation fitness tracker, was unveiled in China. The newly unveiled smart band features a regular version and an NFC version, and eight colorful strap options are available.
The Mi Band 5 sports a 1.1 “AMOLED color monitor that is larger than the Mi Band 4 0.95-inch screen. Xiaomi claims it can last at a single charge for up to 14 days. The band is also waterproof up to 50 meters away and comes with a new magnetic charging dock.
The Mi Band 5 is to be known outside China as Mi Smart Band 5.
Mi Band 5 Price
The standard or non-NFC version was at CNY 189 (around Rs. 2,000) while the fitness tracker’s NFC variant will retail at CNY 229 (around Rs. 2,500). The smart band comes with strap options from Black, Blue, Pink, Orange, Purple, Yellow, and Green and will go on sale starting June 18.
Xiaomi has yet to announce the global Mi Band 5 pricing and availability.
Newly Released Brand Specifications
The newly released brand comes with a larger 1.1-inch AMOLED colored monitor featuring over 100 new animated watch faces. The fitness tracker now has 11 sport modes and provides an Activity Index for Personal Activity Intelligence (PAI) that lets users better monitor and appreciate their fitness activities.
Additionally, it comes with an improved sleep monitoring system to effectively track sleeping patterns. Xiaomi argues that the precision sleep monitoring feature has been improved by 40 percent.
It additionally comes with a heart rate sensor, and female users can now track their menstrual cycle with the health mode of the women.
Users will also get on the smart band notifications on social media, music control, incoming calls, text, weather updates, and more.
There’s also a new camera remote-control feature that lets users click their smartphone on a picture. The smart band comes with an integrated microphone that enables voice commands.
The new Mi Band supports magnetic charging that allows users to charge the unit without having to take off the straps. Xiaomi states that its NFC model provides a battery life of 14 days. Meanwhile, the regular version is said to last up to 20 days on a single charge.
The variant will enable users to make payments through the Band.
