As with so many issues this year, the global pandemic has brought into question Amazon Prime Day 2020. The demand for online delivery rocketed with non-essential shops closing on the high-street.
It means a higher workload for warehouse and delivery staff while some large-name retailers like TK Maxx completely shut down their high-street and online stores.
Given that stores in the UK have been able to reopen (with social distancing measures in place), there has been increased speculation about when Amazon Prime Day 2020 can take place. Since rumors earlier in the year that Prime Day was canceled, this has been much debated.
Here’s all you need to know about the online shopping event and when to get your hands on those Amazon Prime Day deals.
What Amazon Prime Day is
Prime Day is a limited time-limit online sale available, similar to Black Friday or Cyber Monday. The difference is the Amazon Prime Day deals are available only to members of Amazon Prime.
Only those with an Amazon Prime account (including with a free trial) will be able to access the available offers.
When Amazon Prime 2020 Will be Held
Historically, there has always been Amazon Prime Day in July. Last year, this event took place from the 15th to the 16th of the month.
Amazon Prime Day 2020 looked set to be delayed indefinitely. It possibly even canceled due to the many complications of the pandemic including pressure on warehouses and households being more careful with cash.
Current reports, however, say that the event will take place in September at a staggered time on a date that has yet to be verified, meaning customers will be able to shop Amazon Prime Day offers in the not too distant future.
How Many Prime Days Have Been There
It will be the sixth Amazon Prime Day event this year since 2015. It has reportedly begun as a marketing experiment to raise sales over the summer.
The event reportedly outsold the preceding Black Friday and Cyber Monday events last year. It involved the members spending large amounts on cut-price deals on Amazon Prime Day.
