Cleaning products business in the pandemic records a jump in sale
The pandemic panic freaked out people into sanitizing every little surface on sight. Last May, MercuryNews reported a 15 percent jump for the first quarter of Clorox’s overall sales. Products such as wipes and bleaches reportedly brought in 32 percent more sales in their first quarter. Reckitt Benckiser, a British company that produces Lysol and Dettol, achieves a similar result. The company achieved a 13.5 percent rise due to the strong demand for disinfectants. This jump in the sale is mainly from the high demand for aerosol disinfectants. The products are reportedly have been in the constant rise since March and April, according to research firm Nielsen.
In-home workout products business in the pandemic shows incline
With the restriction of going out, people started to splurge their money on in-home exercise equipment. Some of the high-selling products are bikes and treadmills. Peloton reported a 66% revenue growth and a 30% app membership rise as of last May. Peloton itself is confident that the demand will not decline anytime soon.
Gaming companies
People have been practicing social distancing by staying at home. The best choice to spend the weekend with their family together is: to play games. Multiple video game companies show a surge in their revenue. Activision Blizzard states that “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare” sale jumped 21 percent to $1.52 Billion in the first quarter from $1.26 billion last year. Electronic Arts, the producer of games namely FIFA and SIMS 4, benefitted 12% revenue growth compared to last year. Nintendo by far secured the most with 41% profit surge thanks to their spring release: “Animal Crossing: New Horizons”.
The rise of interest in game products is not restricted to video games. Board games, puzzles, and family-friendly games also show a rise in the sale.
