The Covid-19 pandemic is dragging a lot of business down. One of the most severely affected fields is undeniably the entertainment field. Previously, Kidzania has pronounced its cease of operation due to the pandemic and its aftereffect. However, SM Pampanga is taking a different measure in facing the upcoming “new normal” by opening a drive-in cinema.
SM Pampanga, part of the SM Supermalls big family
Located in San Fernando, SM Pampanga is one of the 72 malls in the Philippine operated by SM Supermalls. As of now, SM Pampanga remains the largest and longest shopping mall in Central Luzon. With a number of top brands, such as Ace Hardware, Charles & Keith, and several other brands filling the mall, SM Supermalls, including SM Pampanga, offers a family fun mall experience for their customers. From food, shopping, to cinema, SM Pampanga is the go-to for family time or a fun date. Unfortunately, with the instruction to social distance, its cinema is probably having the biggest downturn ever. To overcome the problem, SM Pampanga finally comes to the decision to open a drive-in cinema.
The first reopening of drive-in cinema in the Philippine
Today, SM Pampanga announced opening the “old-school” drive-in cinema in Philippine. The SM Pampanga Ampitheater is open for drive-in cinema every Fridays to Sundays, at 5:30 PM and 8:20 PM. SM Cinema further names their new cinema “Movies at Sundown”. This approach is a fresh alternative for movie-goers since indoor cinema operation is currently on a halt.
Pampanga abides by IATF’s social distancing measures. Hence, movie watchers can enjoy the whole experience of the drive-in cinema in their own car. For a better experience, SM Cinema reps suggest a 4 person maximum in one vehicle. To ensure every guest can have the time of their lives, SM Cinema provides a 20 meters by 8 meters screen, raised 3 feet above the ground.
This drive-in cinema is scheduled to open on July 31, 2020. A movie bundle consisting of regular popcorn, bottled water, and beef frank costs P400 per person. SM At the moment, SM Pampanga movie-line up consists of Peninsula (Train to Busan 2), My Spy, and Sea Monster. Interested movie-watchers can purchase their electronic tickets through their official website, https://smtickets.com.
