The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) will now allow limited businesses, such as hotels and weekly market, to open. The hotel association welcomed the permit with open hands, and promise to abide strictly to hygiene and sanitization protocols. The government further mentioned that the decision is still on a trial basis for the moment.

The central government has actually dropped the permit for hotels, gymnasiums, and weekly markets to open on Wednesday. The decision has been passed upon the Lieutenant Governor (LG)’s purpose to revive the economy. Mint quoted Dr. Jyotsna Suri, executive committee member of the Hotel Association of India (HAI), and the contentment upon the decision. Suri believed the decision will not only be the chance for the industry’s recovery and revival but also help to sustain employees of the hotels affected by the pandemic. Suri also assured that the association will make sure hotels abide by strict measures of hygiene and sanitization protocols.
To support the hotel business, HAI had (asked) for support from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The pandemic has affected the hotel business, causing at least a ₹90,000 crore revenue loss in 2020. The debt level for the organized hospitality sector now accounts for around ₹45,000 crores, 10% of the total industry.
Delhi’s developing situation in the present
Mint reported the DDMA meeting on Wednesday revealed a sharp decline of COVID-19 cases. Approximately 1398 new cases were recorded on the day of the meeting with 1320 people recovered. Currently, there are 11137 active cases in Delhi with 4235 deaths. Earlier, numeral hotels revamped their buildings into hospitals to take care of the COVID-19 positive cases. With the declining numbers, the government now will allow several hotels to be back in business.
