Due to the large number of users who receive unclear information, WhatsApp Management will postpone its new policy. The WhatsApp application extended the update period to May 15, 2021, before the policy took effect on February 8, 2021.
“WhatsApp found that many users were confused because of the privacy policy update. WhatsApp also found a lot of disinformation circulating that caused unrest for users,” said WhatsApp Management. through his written statement.
“Therefore, WhatsApp decided to provide an extension of time for users to review and receive this update until May 15, 2021,” the statement continued.
WhatsApp management also said that no user accounts will be deleted on February 8, 2021.
“No user accounts will be deleted on February 8, 2021. In this period, WhatsApp will also continue to strive to straighten out the disinformation that is circulating, so that its users will clearly understand the relationship this privacy policy update. ”
The New Policy Will Not Affect Chats of Users
WhatsApp management reminds that the new WhatsApp privacy policy does not affect chats or conversations between accounts or private groups of users.
“Also, keep in mind, the new WhatsApp privacy policy does NOT affect chats or conversations between accounts or private groups of our users. This privacy policy update only applies to conversations with Business accounts that use the WhatsApp Business API and choose a hosting provider outside WhatsApp,” wrote WhatsApp description.
In its blog on January 15, 2021, WhatsApp also wrote that with this update, nothing has changed.
Instead, the update includes new options people should have for messaging businesses on WhatsApp and provides further transparency on how they collect and use data. While not everyone is shopping with a business on WhatsApp right now, he argues, more people will choose to do so in the future and this new service is important for people to know about.
“This update does not extend our ability to share data with Facebook,” WhatsApp wrote on its blog.
“We are now moving back the date on which people will be asked to review and accept the terms. No one will have their account suspended or deleted on February 8. We will also do more to clear up misinformation around how privacy and security works on WhatsApp. We will then ask people to gradually review the policy at their own pace before new business options become available on May 15. ”
