Apple reportedly has the potential to remove the Telegram application from the App Store. This follows a lawsuit by the non-profit organization the United States (US), Coalition for a Safer Web. It demands that Telegram be removed from the App Store.
In its lawsuit, the Coalition for a Safer Web believes that Telegram violates the terms of service of the App Store because it does not at all fight violent calls and messages with extremist content in its application. One of the cases related to that was a riot in the US parliament building in early January 2021.
Launching Giz China, the plaintiff demanded Apple to remove Telegram from the App Store. Coalition for a Safer Web is also planning to ask the court to remove Telegram from the Google Play Store.
In many cases, Android users always have the opportunity to download applications from other sources. IOS users don’t have this option.
Telegram already ranks second in the ranking of the most downloaded apps in the United States today. This came after Twitter blocked US President Donald Trump’s account, and Apple and Google removed from their app store the popular social network supporting Parler.
