Market research firm, IDC has just released another research result on smartphone market in India. Based on the report, Vivo has the fastest growth in the country, threatening Xiaomi and Samsung. The later each has the biggest market share in India.
The Chinese smartphone maker company shipped 4.2 million units in India at the first quarter of 2019. The number is 108.4% higher than the same period previous year.
Xiaomi is slowly losing when Vivo rise more and more
Xiaomi, with the biggest market share in India shipped 9.8 million units. It is 30.6% of the whole marketplace in India. Meanwhile Samsung shipped 7.2 million units, making it number two with 22.3% marketplace.
According to the number of shipment, Vivo has hold of 13% market share in India smartphone market. It is three percent increase from the previous year. With that, it is the third biggest smartphone brand in the country.
Vivo two new smartphones affected the number the most. It released its flagship smartphone, V15 in early 2019. And it also launched Y91 in a much cheaper price. So it reached many level of market in the country.
Previously, Vivo has made aggressive marketing movements in India. It became the main sponsor of Indian Premiere League in 2015. Just a few months after its first launch in the country. The two year contract then extended to 2022.
In its’ home country, Vivo also shows its fang to Xiaomi. Though the later was the first to overtake Apple and Samsung. Now, it is behind other Chinese brands such as Huwawei, Vivo and Oppo.
Xiaomi admitted its slight dip of shipment in the first quarter of this year. It reported to have shipped more than 27.5 million smartphone. In the same period last year, it shipped 0.3 million more smartphone. IDC also stated that Xiaomi is experiencing a 10.2% year-on-year decline up to 25 million units.
