Qualcomm is challenging itself on a new venture. The American multinational company is reported to be developing its handheld-game console at the moment. The new gadget is expected to rival Nintendo Switch, with a personal touch from Qualcomm.
A Nintendo Switch from Qualcomm is coming soon?
The game console that is currently under development by Qualcomm might more or less resemble Nintendo Switch. Qualcomm’s new gadget will resemble a thicker smartphone with detachable controllers on both sides. Users will also be able to connect their gadgets to a TV for a laxer play on a bigger screen.
Though, according to Tech Story, the portable game console will operate on Android with its Snapdragon chipset. The Indian Express further mentioned that Qualcomm will specifically use the 800-series chipset that will succeed the Snapdragon 888.
In addition to the aforementioned features, The Indian Express predicts more new-age features in the console. The gadget might have an expandable memory card slot, cellular support, Bluetooth, GPS, haptic feedback and accelerometers. Moreover, the installation of the newest 800-series chips could make 5G not impossible. With the assumption that Qualcomm will release the device sometime around next year, the new console may run Android 12 with a customised launcher.
According to the circulating reports, Qualcomm’s new console might price roughly around $300.
Qualcomm, however, has not given an official statement about most of the details of its new project. While the running speculations over the new gadget could sound promising, there is still a chance Qualcomm will scrap the idea before we can even know how it looks.
