Elon Musk makes a scene again. In his tweet on his personal Twitter account, he said there was a possibility that Tesla would be the biggest company to beat Apple.
“I think there is a> 0% chance that Tesla could become the largest company in the world,” he wrote on Friday (27/3/2021) answering questions from his followers who asked if there was a chance that Tesla would be bigger than Apple.
“This possibility will happen in the coming months,” said Elon Musk, quoting CNBC International, Monday (29/3/2021). This second tweet has been deleted by Elon Musk.
Elon Musk’s Tweet can Affect Investors
Elon Musk’s tweet could be a new problem for him because it is considered to affect investors’ perceptions of Tesla shares.
US stock exchange authorities previously clashed with Elon Musk over unrestricted use of Twitter. In the third quarter of 2018, this South African-born man received punishment from the stock exchange authority for his tweet on Twitter.
At that time, he said he planned to buy Tesla shares for US $420 per share. And had secured the funds to do so. Tesla’s share price was up more than 6% at that time. In fact it was not done.
For this matter Elon Musk and Tesla receive a fine worth US $20 million. And they agree that they cannot claim not guilty for the incident. In addition, Tesla must submit written information regarding the company’s material information to the exchange. Including tweets and social media posts that Elon Musk will share.
Elon Musk Has Been Sued Over Tweet
Recently, a Tesla shareholder named Chase Gharrity filed a lawsuit in Delaware Chancery Court over Elon Musk’s tweet on Twitter which he said had cost shareholders billions of dollars. One of the issues when Elon Musk tweeted in May 2020 called Tesla’s share price too high. After that announcement Tesla’s share price plummeted 10% and Tesla’s market value lost more than US $ 13 billion.
Until this news was released the SEC refused to comment on Elon Musk‘s tweet, and Tesla did not respond to a request for comment.
Information alone, according to Statista research data, in 2020 Apple’s market capitalization will reach 1.286 trillion. The Tesla reached US $ 668.9 billion. The largest market capitalization is held by Saudi Aramco, reaching US $ 1.685 trillion.
