United States (US) President Joe Biden seems to want consumers to switch to electric vehicles. The proposal comes from the US Department of Transportation, which prepares $174 billion to propel electric vehicles.
Media Politico was the first to disclose this information by citing an email that was sent by the US Department of Transportation to congressional staff and had been seen by Reuters, as quoted on Thursday (8/4/2021).
In the proposal, US $ 100 billion will be provided as an incentive for tax rebates. US $ 15 billion to build 500,000 electric charging stations.
Tax Deductions to Support Electric Car Business
This latest tax cut is part of a US $ 2.3 trillion infrastructure and job creation proposal. This will be a big boost for US automakers, especially General Motors and Tesla Inc, which have lost their auto sales incentive in the form of a $ 7,500 tax rebate after selling more than 200,000 zero-emissions vehicles.
The plan also calls for US $ 20 billion for electric school buses, US $ 25 billion for zero-emission transit vehicles, and US $ 14 billion for the tax incentives.
Create Lots of Jobs
Previously Joe Biden had signed an executive order titled “Made in America” that would replace all official vehicles with electric cars.
