Grand finale of 2019 Startup World Cup had just closed in San Francisco. Among hundreds of startup entering the championship, Abivin comes out as the grand prize winner.
What is Abivin?
Abivin is a Vietnam startup and the only one representing the country in Startup World Cup 2019. And it is also the only Southeast Asian startup entering the grand finale of the cup.
The Hanoi-based startup provides AI-powered Supply Chain Optimisation. With the new title, Abivin makes changes in the quality of innovative startups in its home country.
Founded in 2015, Abivin received training from Finland, during Vietnam Innovation Partnership Programme. Ministry of Science and Technology Vietnam operates the startup.
Along with a giant grand prize cup, the startup also brings home a $1 million investment. Its’ founder, Pham Nam Long, stated that the company will use the investment for R&D for its AI. Long also mentioned intention to bring his company to other market such as Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia.

The Startup World Cup
Startup World Cup selects champions of various countries, than put them in a competition against each other in the finale held in US. Fenox VC, a global startup investor initiated the championship. Yet, this year Startup World Cup stated that it is powered by Pegasus VC, with no mention of Fenox.
Previously, a Japanese startup won the grand prize of Startup World Cup in 2017. Then in 2018, a US startup won the prize. This year, Canadian startup, Klue, won the second prize. And in the third place is Sonavi Labs.
