The price of Tesla’s electric cars has increased due to supply chain pressures throughout the automotive industry, especially for raw materials. This was said by Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk revealing this in his twitter tweet on Monday (31/05/2021).

“Prices are rising due to price pressures on key supply chains across industries. Primarily raw materials,” Musk said in a tweet.

This statement is in response to one unverified twitter account named @Ryanth3nerd. The account said, “I really don’t like @tesla’s directive to increase vehicle prices but remove features like lumbar for Model Y…”

Model 3 and Model Y Prices Raised

The Electrek website reported in May that Tesla raised the prices of its Model 3 and Model Y. The automaker’s fifth price increase for its vehicles in just a few months.

During a conference call in April, Musk said Tesla had experienced difficulti. There are some of the most difficult supply chain challenges, such as chip shortages.

“We’re mostly out of that particular problem,” he added at the time.

In response to the removal of the passenger-side lumbar support on Tesla’s Model Y, Musk said, “Lumbar relocation has been removed only in the 3/Y front passenger seat. Logs show almost no use. It’s not worth the cost and mass for everyone when almost never used.”

Electrek previously reported that owners of the new Tesla Model Y reported that their electric SUV was shipped without lumbar support on the passenger side.
