Following Apple, Google will introduce privacy features that make tracking user data difficult in Android-based mobile software.
Bloomberg News reported on the 3rd (local time) that Google will introduce a function that prohibits users from tracking app activity records in smartphone apps.
The news agency reported that Google has been looking for ways to allow Android users to control advertising tracking in advance in a less rigorous way than Apple in recent months.
The move aims to increase data transparency by empowering users within the app to check and select how their data is processed.
Google previously announced plans to introduce a new safety section to Google Play, its app market, next year through an Android developer blog.
According to this, app developers should inform the types of personal information the app collects in the safety section of Google Play and explain how the app collects and utilizes the data.
This is similar to the App Tracking Transparency function that Apple recently implemented, and Apple has introduced a function that requires apps to obtain permission from users to track user information.
Mobile advertising platform operators such as Facebook are protesting the move, saying it will shrink the target advertising market and damage millions of small and medium-sized companies.
