On Thursday, Ford Motor Co revealed its plan to acquire Electriphi. Electriphi is a company that provides charging management and fleet monitoring software for electric vehicles. The acquisition of Electriphi will further help Ford achieves its target to electrify 40% of its automobiles by 2030.
Platforms developed by California-based Electriphi could help Ford a lot in its advancement in electric vehicles. The platforms could track the real-time status of vehicles, chargers and maintenance services, as well as providing fleet electrification.
Upon the matter, Ford Motor is keeping it shush. The automotive company has not disclosed any terms related to the deal. A report from Reuters, however, mentioned that the deal is expected to close this month.
Following the acquisition, Ford will be able to offer depot charging solutions for customers who are transitioning from fossil fuels to electric batteries.
Additionally, Electriphi’s charging management platform will further be a part of Ford Pro. Ford Pro is a stand-alone unit focusing exclusively on commercial and government customers.
Chief executive of Ford Pro, Ted Cannis elaborated, “By adding Electriphi’s existing advanced technology to the Ford Pro electric vehicles and services offering, we can enhance the commercial customer experience and become a single-source solution for fleet depot charging challenges”.
Accordingly, Morgan Stanley & Co LLC currently serves Ford as the financial adviser for Ford.
