Youtube is to have launched the Shorts feature, a short video service similar to Tiktok. Earlier this year the company announced US$100 million Youtube Shorts Fund for Shorts content creators.
This month, YouTube said creators could earn money from the Shorts Fund. Platom explained the award was based on the total performance on their channel in the previous month.
“Every month we will reach out to thousands of content creators asking them to claim bonus payments from the Short Fund based on their channel’s total Shorts performance from the previous month,” explained Youtube on the Supports, quoted Thursday (5/8/2021).
Youtube describes Shorts Funds as the first step to building the company’s long-term Monetization plan on Shorts. Funds are also planned to be expanded to more countries in the next few months.
For information, in this program, content creators have the opportunity to earn US$100 to US$10,000 from video shorts.
The following are the details of the funding from Youtube:
1. Each channel must meet the minimum eligibility requirements. Starting from uploading at least one eligible Short in the last 180 days, complying with existing guidelines, to being in one of the regions. There are 10 countries on the list, one of which is Indonesia.
Please note, videos that are re-uploaded from other channels or have logos from third-party social platforms will not be eligible for these funds.
2. All videos will count towards the performance of Shorts each month when receiving views, Not just the month the video was uploaded. Eligible channels will receive between US$100-US$10,000 monthly. Adjusted bonus payout amount based on total performance and audience location.
3. Performance levels to qualify for bonus payouts may differ between content creators (such as by audience location). This may change on a monthly basis due to fluctuations in audience location and the number of Shorts creators.
4. Even if you don’t qualify in one month, it’s likely that creators can qualify in the following month.
Youtube also writes down the payment timeline and the bonus claim process from Shorts. Check out the process below:
- Starting next week, if the content creator meets the requirements to receive payment from the Short Fund, a notification will be sent to the Youtube application. There will be listed the amount of the bonus and how to claim it, Youtube also says content creators have until the 25th of each month to claim or it will expire.
- To claim the bonus there are two steps, namely accepting the terms and linking an active AdSense account to receive payments. If you don’t have an AdSense account, you can set up directly on Youtube as a claim process.
