The coffee industry in the world seems to be growing big indeed. Indonesia, one of the biggest coffee bean producer in the world is also joining the new era of coffee shop. Though not being as aggressive as Luckin Coffee, Fore Coffee is posing as a new trend in Jakarta.
A speedy growth for Fore Coffee
Starting off at August last year, the coffee shop has yet to turn one. But it has raised $9.5 million for the early stage funding. East ventures led as the biggest investor to the coffee startup.
Fore Coffee has opened 35 stores in Jakarta by March 2019. With the big investment, it planned on opening a hundred more store by the end of the year. It is serving over 1000 cups of coffee per week, in one city only.
Is it a Luckin copycat?
Though many said that it is similar to Luckin Coffee in being a threat to Starbucks, Fore has an entire different concept to the Chinese startup. First of all, it is focusing on the cafe experience.
Fore cafes has big spaces allowing many customers to sit down and talk for a long time. To differentiate from other cafes, it uses natural theme for the interior. Customers can get the sense of calm and coolness from the greens inside the cafes.
It came from the initial concept of the owner, Elisa Suteja that is only 26 years old. The name Fore is taken from the word forest, as well as an acronym for ‘For Environment’. It brings up forest in the middle of Jakarta city.
But it doesn’t mean that Fore abandon those who need quick doze of caffeine. Just like Luckin and Starbucks China, the Indonesian coffee shop has also launched its own app. Customers can get coffee delivery from the app, through Fore’s own couriers.
