Diving has become popular to young professionals from around the world. It is a kind of leisure sport as well as luxury sport in a way. But there are not many platforms that help divers plan their trips. Therefore James Tsuei started Deepblu.
Deepblu: from social network, computer device, to Airbnb for diving only
The Taiwan-based startup has everything you need to plan a diving trip. Starting from the earliest stage of finding the best diving spot. Launched in 2015, the startup’s platform connects divers one to each other.
The platform is its own social network for divers from around the world. They can share their dive logs and photos. Deeplu even provide its own device to record dive logs.
COSMIQ looks a lot like usual smartwatch. But it is far from usual. It is a Bluetooth-enabled dive computer. It captures and record the divers ‘diving experiences as well as their past ones. In addition, it also alert divers when to take a decompression stop.
To make it even more thorough, the company added another service this year. Planet Deepblu, as it called, is the ‘Airbnb for diving’. In another word, it is a platform where users can plan their trips. It is also a marketplace for dive shops, allowing divers to contact them personally.
Planet Deepblu now has more than 500 dive experiences to discover and book directly. North American customers still dominate the platform. Followed by Chinese divers.
Though it admits that it is still focusing on the North American market, the dive platform plans on expanding more. The next target is Southeast Asia and Asia Pacific. Both region has the world’s most stunning dive sites.
Deepblu is also expanding to other water sport experiences. In the near future, it will also feature snorkeling on its platforms. As snorkeling is also popular to the newbies.
