Queq, a Thailand-based startup that creates an app to avoid long lines. This Thailand queuing app just launched its Application in Malaysia. That was shortly after the company raised US$ 2.8 million in a series A round.
The round includes local startup incubator True Incube and South Korean venture capital firm Bon Angels Venture Partners.
What is Queq?
Queq is a mobile app that helps us avoid lines. It brings queues to our smart phone. The app lets people view the queue at the location around them. For example, at a mall or within the vicinity of commercial development.
To queue, the user can simply request a number from the app. They can, later, wait for their turn via smart phone instead of standing in line. Queue numbers can be booked two kilometers away from the destination. It also has to be at least two kilometers from your presence. When they get their turn, they will get a notification.

How is Queq’s growth?
This Thailand queuing app was incorporated in September 2015. Its founder and CEO, Rungsun Joh Prompasith, ran a software development house company previously. He found the inspiration to build Queq, after he got a task from a restaurant. The restaurant asked him to invent a queuing solution.
Queq currently has 4 million active users in Thailand alone. It works with over 80 large restaurant chains, over 2000 F&B businesses and over 800 malls.
Besides Malaysia, it also plans to expand its market to Taiwan. Queq chooses Malaysia as it first expansion since it shares a lot of similarities with Thailand. People from both countries love food, shopping and spending time in malls. They both also have similar weather.
In the future, Queq aims to transform from queuing app to be a lifestyle platform. It wants to address a pain point involving wasted time for daily activity. It aimed to arm itself with the ability to book an appointment with retailers. It also plans to have a payment feature.
