Food delivery platform, Zomato shuts down bigotry act from an Indian customer. The customer complained that his delivery driver was not of the Hindu faith.
He tweeted “Just canceled an order on @ZomatoIN they allocated a non-Hindu rider for my food,” he said.
Besides, The customer has also made a complaint to the Zomato’s customer service. Within the complain, he said that the company was forcing the customer to take deliveries from people they do not want to. Furthermore, in a series of tweets, he also shared screenshots of his conversation with customer service. Moreover, he said he would be raising the issue with his lawyers.
To respond to the complaint, Zomato tweeted, “Food doesn’t have a religion. It is a religion.” Consequently, Zomato shuts down bigotry is winning the Internet for its firm stand on the issue.

Deepinder Goyal, Zomato’s CEO, later, commented that Zomato is proud of the diversity of its esteemed customers and partners. Many people admire Zomato’s response.
Goyal also applauded his team for upholding their value and not discriminating their customers. He further told the team not to succumb to any demands from customers or partners on racial ground.
The incident happened when there is increasing religious tensions in India. India minorities and liberals concerns about the influence of the Hindu nationalist winning political party.

Zomato
Zomato established in 2008. It is an India restaurant search and discovery platform. It provides information and reviews of restaurants across India. Zomato review includes images and menus of the restaurant. Other than that, it also offers a food delivery service. It quickly expanded across Asia, Europe, and South America. The company bought Urbanspoon in 2015 to gain access to the United States and Australia.
In June, Zomato announced that it would give six months of paid leave to all new parents among its 5,000 corporate employees worldwide.
