Let’s continue on the conditions that often occur as a consequence of changes in leadership demographics in the Millennial Era.
This condition refers to Leadership Gap Syndrome or also known as a symptom of the leadership gap.
What is leadership gap?
According to entrepreneur.com, a leadership gap is a shortcoming a professional has that directly correlates with their strengths in the workplace, holding them back from reaching their full potential.
It has significant differences between Millennials and the more senior Generations that often refers as “colonial generations”
Colonial Generation is a blend of Generation X, those born in the 40-50s and Generation Y born in the 60s to 70s. This difference occurs mainly in differences of points of view, paradigms, preferences, and character.
Additionally, these differences are unfortunately unknown by their seniors of the Colonial Generation.
What is happening now?
The leaders unconsciously led the Millennials to use the method or approach as they were led by their previous superiors.
Is this wrong?
It’s just the way to lead is not right. The way their superiors led earlier is very inappropriate and irrelevant for the current Millennial Generation.
This discrepancy as is scientifically triggered by the very wide differences in character, attitudes, behavior and preferences between the Millennials and the colonial generation.
As a result, there is often friction between the Colonial Generations who lead and the Millennials who are led, or vice versa.
This friction because it did not manage wisely into an unproductive open conflict.
Because the unproductive conflict failed to control, it finally exploded into insubordination and resistance by the Millennials.
