GoJek to tackle Singapore market. It has planned the move for years. The code name of the plan is ‘Project Simba’. It comes on the back of plans on the ‘trifecta’, GoJek plan for Philippines, Vietnam, and Thailand. Today, GoJek is accessible in Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Besides, it also has an engineering office in Banglore, India.
GoJek’s ride-hailing app launched in Singapore in late 2018. It was one of the highlights of the year for commuters and drivers alike. But the firm set up its offices in Singapore as early as two years before it launched its app here.
Ultimately, the company is growing and evolving. Earlier this year, GoJek unveiled a new visual identity as part of its evolution from “a Jakarta-based ride-hailing service to Southeast Asia’s leading Super App”. It also announced that it is working out how to offer food delivery service in Singapore and that it could expand to Malaysia.

Running on Different Roads
The company has leveraged the differences to become its advantage. Singapore is, for instance, GoJek’s first market that supports credit cards. They also test a lot of features for “four-wheelers” in Singapore that may subsequently be deployed in Indonesia. Not that it was all smooth-sailing from the get-go.
Other than that, a lot of location searches in Singapore are done via zip code. This is different from other countries GoJek operates in. Only in Singapore, every building has a zip code.
GoJek has learned to create products based on its user unique quality. It said that even in Indonesia, GoJek home country, GoJek adapt some quirks in the product that people have gotten used to and adapted to.

However, in Singapore GoJek said, they came on a blank slate. Luckily, people really gave us very honest feedback on what they thought was wrong with our product.
Besides, the social impact in Singapore is also different from Indonesia. In Indonesia, GoJek tries to give credit for its drivers through pay later. Meanwhile, in Singapore, the drivers were very concerned around operating expenses. Thus, GoJek provides a lot of benefits for them to go better, help them reduce their operating expenses.
