Ping An Good Doctor startup is China’s biggest online platform. The startup aims to boost and reduce losses. Therefore, it launches partnerships for China’s middle class. In order to do it, the startup plans to tie-ups with more than 20 firms. That includes China mobile and China Everbright Bank.
Ping An Good Doctor launched in 2014. This new service will help the startup to broaden its target customer By this new service alone, the startup plans to target higher-paying customers whose needs are not covered by the state-run medical system.

The CEO said that they see many middle-class people can spend money. However, they are lacking the channels to upgrade their medical service. That happens because of the limited capacity of the state medical system.
Ping An Good Doctor Bumpy Roads
Ping An Good Doctor posted a net loss of US$ 38.7 million in June 2019. The number is down from US$ 63 million in the year-earlier period. Many experts expect the startup to almost break even in 2021.
Before this new service, the startup launched ‘Private Doctor‘. It is a family doctor service. It comprises four packages targeting children, adults, and seniors. The startups target China’s more than 100 million middle-class families.
The annual fees of the service range from US$ 156 to US$ 1,135. Yet, as a part of the promotion period, the startup reduced the price by 59% to US$ 71. The service allows users to access unlimited online consultations, medical appointment services, and health checks. Moreover, users can also discount on medicines. Besides, seniors can also get accompanied by hospital service.

These services aim to address China’s uneven and insufficient supply of healthcare resources. The startup targets 10 million users but they do not give the specific time frame.
The startup is assisted by Artificial Intelligent (AI) and big data capabilities. Thus, Ping An Good Doctor aims for its private doctor to serve 10,000 users in the long term. Currently, each of its doctors only serves 3,000 users.
