Facebook has promised its users a feature that deletes data Facebook shared with third-party websites and apps. The company has launched that new feature. The social media giant announced that its new feature named Off-Facebook Activity.
Facebook has been facing great scrutiny over its data-sharing activity over the past years. The biggest example of Facebook data sharing case is Cambridge Analytica Scandal. Within the scandal, Facebook shared millions of users’ data with a data mining, brokerage, and analysis company.
Moreover, Facebook mentions that it worked with privacy experts to develop this feature. Besides, before the launching of this feature, Facebook had to even change the way it stores data.

However, this new feature is only accessible to several regions for now. That initial regions are Ireland, South Korea, and Spain. Yet, Facebook has promised to expand it to additional countries, soon.
Off-Facebook Activity
With this new feature, users can bring up a list of people sending data to Facebook. Later, users can tap on a specific app or website to know what data is being shared. In the end, if users do not want to share that data, they can block it. They can block it through a website and app-level.
The feature does not make Facebook deletes users data that might have been collected by a third party. However, the feature removes the connection between data and users personal information on Facebook.
Besides, once a user disconnects the Off-Facebook Activity, he or she will be logged out f any website or app where you used your Facebook login.

Facebook mentions that this feature maintains benefits for both users and businesses. By that feature, Facebook will give more relevant advertising. For instance, if a user as looking at a specific type of shoe on a retailer’s website. Then, Facebook could then show that user ads for those shoes.
