Line Pay Corp., is an operator of the Japanese messaging app’s mobile money transfer and payment services. The company has announced that its merchant has been integrating with WeChat Pay. WeChat pay is Line Pay’s Chinese competitor. Line Pay gives support for WeChat Pay since August 9.
The Integration
After the integration of these two Asia giants payment platform, WeChat Pay users can get easier access. For the details, the users will be able to scan Japanese Line Pay QR codes. Later, they can make direct payment through their WeChat Pay balance.

Besides, stores and businesses signed up for Line Pay are also get the benefit. They will have the ability to accept Naver Pay and WeChat Pay as an additional payment option. Other than that, the stores and businesses can combine and manage payments made through any of the options in a single account.
Line Pay mentions that it aims to boost mobile payments for its partner merchants in Japan. Thus, it made easier access for international tourists.
The operator stated that there are 8.38 million annual tourists from China. Therefore, Line Pay targets that people to be its potential customers for Line Pay merchants in Japan.
By July 2019, WeChat has a little over 1 million users on its platform. In late 2015, WeChat extended its cashless payments services. WeChat did that in order to serve Chinese tourists overseas.

Together with that move, WeChat added support for US dollar British pound, Hong Kong dollar, Japanese yen, Canadian dollar, Australian dollar, Euro, New Zealand dollar, and Korean won.
Besides, WeChat Pay has also introduced an offline payment in late July 2019. The service is intended to grow the number of its customers. Once the number of WeChat Pay customers significantly grow, then Line Pay can also get the benefit.
