Indonesia’s Kedai Sayur Bags $4 Million

Kedai Sayur is Indonesia based startup. The startup digitizes vegetable hawkers within the country. Kedai Sayur bags $4 Million in a round led by East Venture.

Other than Kedai Sayur, local firm startup SMDV, Triputra Group, and Multi Persada also participated in the round.

The s plans to use the fresh investment to grow its network of partner vegetable hawkers and retailers. In addition, it is also going to bring in more sources and suppliers. Besides, it also wants to further develop its technology.

In the long run, the startup aims to help more Indonesian to get easier access to fresh vegetables. At the same time, they also help more local vegetable hawkers to get easier access to their job.

Kedai Sayur

The startup launched in October 2018. Meanwhile, the name of Kedai Sayur comes from Indonesian, which means vegetable kiosk. Through its mobile apps, it works with farmers to bring their products to partner vegetable hawkers.

The vegetable hawkers are called Mitra Sayur. The hawkers partners can have access to farmers’ products through its apps. They later can pick them up from the nearest drop-off point.

Besides, Grocers can register as drop-off points. Consequently, it reduces the struggle of sourcing competitive produce and shortening the supply chain.

Other than that, Partners can also purchase custom delivery vehicles. The vehicles called Si Komo from Kedai Sayur. The vehicles aim to help with door-to-door sales. Besides, the vehicle can be transformed and used for other services, such as delivering packages and selling food.

Since its inception, the startup claims to have grown its network of partners by 520%. Moreover, its gross merchandise volume has also grown by 600%.

Additionally, earlier this year, it also raised US$1.3 million in a seed funding round, which was also led by East Ventures.
