Manchester United, a British football leviathan, appears to orient to business more. In the recent period, the club’s football performance seems to lose its chief priority.
A former Manchester United player, Ander Herrera, has implicitly connoted that the club puts business over football. After being picked up by Paris-Saint Germain on a free transfer, Herrera disclosed his reason to leave the club due to a lack of focus on football.
“I was very happy at that incredible club (Manchester United). I am very grateful to the supporters,” Herrera said. “Frankly, I was immensely happy there. However, at the club, there were times when I felt that football was not considered the most important thing.”
Manchester United ranked sixth as the most valuable sports franchise, Forbes reported. Accordingly, the club is worth USD 3.81 billion in 2019.
Perhaps, Herrera’s sentiment might be justifiable that football no longer becomes the one-above-all matter at Old Trafford. Recent updates indicate that the club’s performance is skyrocketing but backwards.

Manchester United Business Affects Its Previously Excellent Feat
While the club was among the most successful clubs in the Premier League, it seems that its success remains a past glory. Slate wrote an article on how the club hits rock bottom and becomes no more than a luxury imprint.
Unlike its competitors such as Chelsea and Manchester City which struggle hard to reign the standing, Manchester United looks like doing the opposite. During this season, the club has solely two wins in eight Premier League games.
In the nearly past decade, Manchester United, led by Alex Ferguson, managed to win the competitions numerous times. Arguably, it was the golden moment of the club.
However, football analysts and enthusiasts have noticed a roughly significant change since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club. Ferguson announced his retirement after winning the title during the 2012 – 2013 season.
Although, after his departure, the club did not continuously have a poor performance, but it has been far from winning another title ever since. Some analysts said that the club is currently like an unwise child inheriting a lifetime wealth from the dead parents.
