According to JPMorgan, Apple will release a total of four new 5G iPhone next year.
According to the report, the next iPhone will come with 5.4-inch, 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays. And the 6.1-inch will come with two models. Expert predicted that two upper-end models (6.1 and 6.7 inches) will have wave technology, which has faster speed of communication. While the other two models (5.4 and 6.1 inches) will only support frequencies in 5GHz (Gigahertz) band.
Apple iPhone will also join 5G markets led by Samsung and Huawei, making the competition become fiercer.
Samsung, in particular, plans to expand its market by applying 5G to the Galaxy A series next year. While China’s Xiaomi has announced the release of more than 10 kinds of 5G Smartphones next year.
The report also contains an outlook for some specifications of the product. All four products will have OLED (organic light-emitting diode) displays. And two high-end models will have triple cameras and 3D sensing functions on the back. While low-end models will have dual cameras without 3D sensing functions.
Experts also predict that Apple will have a change in its release strategy. Instead of launching phones once a year in September, Apple might launch iPhone 5G at the first half of 2020.
Analysts say that if a product got released twice, it can ease sales growth that focused on second half of the year. It will also secure flexibility that can make changes to the product on a six-month basis. As well as address shortcomings that are somewhat longer than a year between releases.
Experts have been questioning Apple’s decision to not launching iPhone 11 in 5G. According to a report by CNN, it might be Apple’s decision of using Intel components instead of Qualcomm since a few years ago. That caused stall development of 5G modems this year.
In addition, the 5G technology hasn’t been able to cover all of the target costumers of Apple.
