Southeast Asia’s leading application Grab announced on the 6th of the release GrabPay Card. It is also the first credit card without a credit card number in Asia to facilitate payment in a “cashless society.”
The card is the result of Grab’s partnership with MasterCard. It does not only increases security by removing the card number, but also provides more reward benefits. This GrabPay Card also easily integrates with Grab’s payment system, the company said.
Card users can safely and easily trade online and offline at 53 million MasterCard stores worldwide. Regardless of whether they own bank accounts or not.
Digital Grab Pay cards can be applied immediately and used. And after making digital cards, you can apply for physical cards without a card number.
GrabPay Card: Southeast Asia will be next
Grab launches the first GrabPay Card in Singapore. It also plan on launching it in other countries starting the Philippines in the first quarter of next year. Then other Southeast Asian countries in the first half of next year.
“We will continue to add features to the wallet and card to enable our users to enjoy simpler, more flexible digital payments experience,” said GrabPay managing director Huey Tyng Ooi.
“GrabPay users will be able to transact safely, securely and effortlessly with one of the first e-wallets from Southeast Asia that offers worldwide acceptance,” added Mastercard executive vice president Rama Sridhar.
GrabPay it self is the most popular e-payment platform in Singapore, according to iPrice Group and App Annie. The Monthly Active Users and total downloads of the app is the biggest in the country.
Meanwhile Grab provides Southeast Asia’s largest vehicle service. It has achieved cumulative rides of more than 3 billion times since 2012. In addition to ride-sharing services across 339 cities in eight Southeast Asian countries, the company also offers a variety of services, including food delivery, delivery services, digital payments and finance.
