LG Electronics is going to go after premium smartphone markets in Japan with LG G8X ThinQ Dual Screen.
LG Electronics made an announcement it is launching G8X in Japan through SoftBank of Mobile Communication. The G8X will be available at more than 5,000 stores located in major Japanese cities. Including Softbank stores and electronics dealerships.
It is the first time since January last year that LG Electronics released a premium smartphone in Japan. LG Electronics believes that G8X will serve as a bridgehead for re-entry into Japan’s premium smartphone market.
Prior to the launch, LG Electronics invited local media to hold a product briefing session last month. Local media praised LG G8X’s dual-screen functions for high practicality and caustic ratio. This is raising expectations as Japan is planning to commercialize 5G service in earnest next year.
LG G8X ThinQ: the perfect multi-tasking premium smartphone for Japanese Market
Recently, content consumption by smartphone users has been on the rise based on multitasking. Content providers are also continuing to develop services that are tailored to them.
The live basketball game app “Basket Live,” released by Softbank, provides customers with video of the game taken from various angles. It also provides services that allow users to compare players’ personal performance while watching broadcast programs. It is similar to a live pro baseball service introduced by a local mobile carrier earlier this year.
LG’s dual-screen, which uses two screens at the same time, is an accessory optimized for multitasking. You can search for and compare player information on different screens while watching relay videos on one screen, or you can communicate with friends via messenger. It is also possible to view images taken from different angles on each screen.
“We are continuously working with major Japanese mobile carriers to supply 5G premium Smartphones early next year.” said a representative for LG Electronics.
Previously, LG launched V50 ThinQ in the South Korean market, gaining interest for its cheap price and dual screen.
