Did you know about cashless society? How much did you have interacted with OVO, Go-Pay, Dana etc? There are some example of cashless methode which is popular in Indonesia right now.
What is the meaning about cashless society?
Cited from wikipedia.org cashless is a condition where a financial transaction is done without using any physical money. But instead are using a digital information transfer or e-money between each parties transaction.
Nowadays, cashless society trend is not only happened in Indonesia but also in others. Especially developed countries.
In 2014, Belgium became the first country in the world that applied this system. While China was in Asia.
Although this trend has became a primadona in developed countries, but in fact, this system still has some deficiency.
There are advantages and disadvantages of cashless system :
Advantages
1. Practical
E-money is easier to ise than physical money. This advantage is one of the reason for e-toll application. It was expected to reduce toll payimg queue.
2. Detailed expense
Cashless system make you easier not only to review on how much you spend your money. But also the amount, time and place of your transaction.
3. Offered many promo
You can minimize your expenditure if you get any promo. Some cashless system in Indonesia collaboration with some merchant or companies to give any promo to customers.
Disadvantages
1. Need for understanding technology
Because this kind of transaction trend really depends on technology, user or customers has to really understand technology and how to use it. In reality, not all Indonesian are able to use technology well and need more understand.
2. More wasteful
Users don’t realize that they have spent much money by using cashless system. Promos make them want to buy more products without considering on their expenditure.
So, are Indonesian ready to be cashless society?
Although many Indonesian have good understand on technology, but many of them still not familiar with this technology. Especially in concession society.
Furthermore the internet network not yet fully reach all of Indonesia. Cashless system will be realize if the customers well understand how to use this system.
Therefor, cashless system education is important to increase cashless society’s knowledge.
