LG Electronics will reportedly launch a new flagship, the V60 ThinQ February next year. Attention is focusing on whether V60 ThiQ will continue its momentum thanks to V50 ThinkQ, which recorded about 700,000 units in sales.
According to industry and foreign media, LG Electronics will showcase the V60 at the MWC 2020. It is the world’s largest mobile exhibition upcoming in Barcelona, Spain, February next year. V60 is the third dual-screen phone after V50 ThinQ and V50S ThinQ.
This year, LG Electronics targeted the market with a Dual Screen. Dual screen allows customers to use two screens at the same time when they want to. For example, users can search for information or movie plots from actors who appear on dual-screen while watching movies on their smartphones.
Dual-screen phones received warm welcome in both home country and abroad for their differentiated multitasking.
The previous V50 ThinQs reached 700,000 sales in Korea alone. High public enthusiasm and sales subsidies also played a part, but increased use at relatively low prices boosted sales.
Some obstacles for V60 ThinQ
However the following V50s ThinQ released in second half of this year, failed to post as much sales as expected. Compared to its previous models, its dual-screen function and some specifications have been upgraded only slightly. And the size of its public funding has also been drastically reduced.
The price of dual-screen phones was also a big advantage. But Samsung Electronics is also launching the Galaxy Fold 2 in the mid-1 million won range, which is half of the price of Galaxy Fold.
Only little information have spread about V60 ThinQ so far. However, a large frame of increasing usage by connecting two screens might remain the same.
Although V50 ThinQ had to purchase 219,000 won dual-screen separately, its follow-up V50S ThinQ have both screens in the basic package. So V60 might also have both screen in basic package. The price of V50S ThinQ is around $1000, the same as the price of V50 ThinQ.
