Huawei said it shipped more than 6.9 million 5G smartphones as of the end of December 2019. It announced the news through the company’s official social media Weibo account.
China’s Huawei claimed it sold more 5G smartphones than Samsung Electronics.
Huawei said on its official social media Weibo account on the 15th that sales of its fifth-generation mobile phone surpassed 6.9 million as of the end of December last year. The figure is 200,000 units higher than the 6.7 million units sold by Samsung Electronics by the end of November last year.
“Thank you for your support for Huawei,” Huawei said in its Weibo. “We will provide a better 5G experience this year.”
Huawei and Samsung battle of 5G Smartphone in 2019 to continue 2020
Related industries believe that Huawei’s announcement is in line with Samsung Electronics’ recent move. When Samsung Electronics announced its shipment of 5G Smartphones last year, it is likely that Samsung Electronics is going to fight back.
Unlike Samsung Electronics, Huawei did not provide statistical data from market research companies. As if to support Samsung Electronics’ announcement at the time, Counterpoint Research reported that Samsung Electronics’ 5G smartphone shipments reached 6.7 million units, accounting for 53.9 percent of the market. If Huawei’s argument is correct, it is an error in the investigation by Counterpoint Research.
Currently, the company is having difficulty selling Huawei 5G Smartphones in global markets due to U.S. government’s sanctions. Given this, most of the 5G smartphones most likely sold in the Chinese domestic market.
Huawei’s 5G smartphone, meanwhile, is showcasing a variety of models. Including the low-priced Nova 6 5G series and the HONOR V30 5G series. With the focus on the Mate20X 5G, Mate 30 5G and MateX 5G.
Vice President Ye Chang-lin of Huawei emphasized Huawei’s competitiveness in caustic ratio. Saying that the lowest priced model of 5G phones in China will fall to 1,000 yuan by the end of this year.
