Samsung Electronics is about to unveil its second foldable Smartphone called Galaxy Z-Flip. And questions are growing about its specifications and timing of the release.
The company planned to unveil Galaxy Z-Flip in San Francisco on April 11, along with the Galaxy S20 series. Unlike previous Galaxy Fold, this new foldable phone will have changes in terms of durability and convenience.
The big change in the phone is in the great recession. The first foldable phone, Galaxy Fold, priced at around $2,000 has much vulnerability on durability, which critics say has improved this concern. While the second foldable phone will be around $1,000.
The reason behind the Galaxy Z Flip relates to its goal of popularizing it. The letter Z refers to Generation Z. Generation Z is the next generation of Generation Y, usually referring to those born in the mid-1990s and early 2000s. Some say that the name is to target Generation Z, which is under the age of 25.
Some details on Galaxy Z-Flip
Major foreign media outlets in the Netherlands, including Let’s Go Digital and Sam Mobile, also released information on the Galaxy Z flip. Let’s Go Digital has created a rendering image of the Galaxy Z-flip based on known information.
The phone will reportedly be a combination of in-folding technology that folds the screen inward and out-folding technology that folds the screen outward. In addition, a maximum 6.7-inch display equipped the phone. And the camera is expected to come with a dual-lens lens with a 12 megapixel rear. As well as a 10-megapixel front-facing lens.
Its display material is also different from Galaxy Fold. Although Samsung still applies transparent polyimide film (CPI) it will also use ultra-thin glass that has relatively strong durability starting from Z-flip as its foldable part reportedly have a disadvantage.
However as it has a lower price, it also lacks many exclusive parts from Galaxy Fold. For now, Galaxy Z flip design has the 4G network. The company explained that this is because it is stable to put 4G modules in its structure and can make them thinner.
In addition, the application processor (AP), which performs the computation function of smartphones, is Qualcomm’s previous generation, 855, not the latest version of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865. The battery size is 3,300 milliamperes (mA/h), similar to its predecessor Galaxy S10, and Galaxy Note 10. Wireless charging function, which used to be for premium phones, won’t also available.
