UK reportedly does not exclude Huawei’s equipment from NCS. Which increases the possibility of Huawei’s equipment spreading to European countries. Including Germany, France and Norway.
Britain has finally decided to introduce 5G equipment from Huawei, despite opposition from the U.S. This has raised the possibility that Huawei’s communications equipment will be supplied to major European countries. Including Germany, France, Norway and Portugal. Analysts say that the U.S.-led “Huawei sanctions network” has cracked.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson reviewed the issue of the 5G network at the National Security Council on Wednesday. And decided not to rule out Huawei’s equipment. The British government plans to speed up legislation of the bill.
Analysts say the decision relates to a pledge that Johnson said when he took office last year. He said that he would establish 5G networks across Britain by 2027. Analysts say Huawei’s telecommunication equipment is 30 percent to 50 percent cheaper than its competitors. And it has excellent performance.
If Britain excludes Huawei’s equipment, it could cost hundreds of millions of pounds more. And will also delay the commercialization of 5G, which could have a negative impact on Johnson’s.
Huawei welcomed the move, saying that the U.K. will secure market competitiveness as it can build a cost-effective communications infrastructure.
UK uses Huawei’s equipment for 5G and the impact to other countries
Britain’s decision made it more likely that other European countries will also introduce Huawei’s equipment. The German government established security guidelines for commercializing 5G in October last year. And decided not to exclude certain companies.
Since then, German mobile carrier Telefonica Deutschland has selected Huawei as one of the suppliers of 5G equipment. And it is waiting for a final answer from the government.
France, Norway and Portugal are also likely to introduce Huawei’s equipment. Orange, a leading French mobile carrier, said there is no security concern for Huawei’s equipment. While Norwegian mobile carrier Teleno also expressed its intention to commercialize 5G with Huawei.
The Portuguese government also said it would not rule out Huawei’s equipment. Portuguese mobile carrier Altis Portugal has set a policy of working with Huawei to commercialize 5G this year.
Meanwhile, the U.S. expressed regret over the decision by its flagship ally Britain, noting that “there is no safe option for unreliable companies to control any part of the 5G network.”
