Google’s parent company Alphabet reportedly unveiled YouTube and cloud sales for the first time in its history. With Youtube fourth-quarter earnings for fiscal 2019. YouTube ad sales have been on a steep rise every year, confirming that they are an absolute powerhouse in the global video market.
Alphabet announced on Thursday that it posted sales of 46.07 billion dollars in the fourth quarter of last year. Operating profit of 9.3 billion dollars and net profit of 10.6 billion dollars. Sales rose about 17 percent on-year, with operating profit rising about 13 percent and net profit rising about 19 percent.
In particular, sales of YouTube ads, which were unveiled for the first time, recorded $11.16 billion and $15.15 billion, respectively, in 2018 and last year. Sales reached 4.72 billion U.S. dollars in the fourth quarter of last year, up about 31 percent from 3.61 billion dollars a year earlier. YouTube ad sales accounted for about 10 percent of Google’s total sales last year.

Cloud sales also continued to grow at a rapid pace. Sales reached 8.92 billion U.S. dollars last year, up 52.7 percent from a year earlier. Sales rose 52.6 percent on-year to $2.61 billion in the fourth quarter.
In addition, sales in Google search and advertising recorded 27.18 billion U.S. dollars, up about 17 percent from the previous year. Other sales, including the hardware of pixels, are worth 5.26 billion dollars.
However, the new business sector shows increase on operating loss. Sales of these new projects rose about 12 percent on-year to $172 million. But operating losses hit $1.328 billion, slightly up from the previous year.
Google said the number of YouTube premium and music premium subscribers exceeded 20 million. The number of subscribers to paid TV services also surpassed 2 million.
“We will continue to invest in deep computing areas such as AI (Artificial Intelligence), Ambient Computing, and Cloud Computing, and will lead sustainable growth of the alphabet and create new opportunities,” Google CEO Sundar Pichai said in a statement.
Meanwhile, recently Youtube has to deal with South Korean law enforcement under accusation of unfair policy of Youtube Premium.
