Tesla performed very satisfyingly in the latest car brand rankings published by Consumer Reports. Taking an 8-rank leap, the company currently ranks 11 out of 33.
The indicators of the assessment are pertaining to crash-test results, surveys about reliability and owner satisfaction, and Consumer Reports’ vehicle tests. Overall, Tesla scored 73 out of 100, being the best American car manufacturer in the list.
In details, the company ranked first in the owner satisfaction survey and earned an average road-test score of 85 out of 100 points. However, the brand ranked 23rd in the reliability survey.
While failing to get into top 10 or the first spot, Tesla gained the most rank-leap compared to last year’s. Additionally, it even managed to top famous brands such as Toyota, Honda, Nissan, and Mercedes-Benz.
Regarding the 2020 rankings, Porsche sits on the throne. Following the German autmobile manufacturer, Genesis and Subaru ranked second and third respectively.

How Tesla Managed to Significantly Elevate Its Rank and Performance
Customer Reports attributed Tesla’s outstanding improvement to the excellence of Model S and Model 3. The two models even belong to the top 10 picks of the year.
Unfortunately, Model X did not perform as well as the preceding during the test. The SUV did not indicate any much significant improvement after being nominated as one among top 10 least-reliable vehicles in 2019.
Besides the test results of the three models, that was not the only reason of the improvement in terms of rank. Accordingly, its superior energy efficiency also becomes the deciding factor during the assessment.
Tesla’s rising performance on this year’s rankings suggests that electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer has been considerably advancing over the last years. This might mark the beginning of EV manufacturer’s innovative technology on highly-regarded engineering with a more stable manufacturing system.
