There are predictions that Apple will release a new model AirPod Pro Light in the second half of this year. There is a possibility that noise cancelling will be available with a lower price range than AirPod Pro.
According to Taiwan Digitimes, Apple has added USI, a subsidiary of Taiwan’s ASE Technology, as a supplier of AirPod Pro Light models. Currently, companies offering AirPod Pro backend services include Amkor, China’s JCET and Japan’s Murata Corp.
Many expects the AirPod Pro Light to be a cheaper version than the AirPod Pro and include active noise cancelling. And it is the key feature in designs such as the AirPod Pro. Other features for consumers were still unavailable. We cannot rule out the possibility that it might not be an AirPod Pro Light after all. But an “AirPod Third Generation” instead. Some point out that it is somewhat contradictory to name the AirPod Pro, an expensive model, “Light.”
“We need to take into account the fact that our digital records regarding Apple’s product specifications, names and timing of release are popular,” said Apple Insider, an IT media outlet specializing in Apple.
AirPod Pro Light, another delay due to the COVID19 outbreak
Apple’s manufacturing schedule has faced disruption by the spread of the new coronavirus infection (COVID19) in recent years. The AirPods Pro Light model initially planned to start production in the second quarter. Due to COVID19 Apple has to delay the production. It caused delays in the release schedule and might possible only in the second half of this year. USI will reportedly be in charge of ordering package systems for AirPod Pro Light models.
“The addition of USI to the supply chain can also help speed up production of products,” said MacLumers, an IT media outlet. “Apple planned a meeting with suppliers earlier this week due to the COVID19 impact.”
