Former US President Donald Trump said crypto currencies were “potentially a disaster waiting to happen”. He said crypto assets “may be counterfeit.”
Trump spoke about crypto in an interview with Fox Business on Tuesday (31/8). He responded to a question about whether he had tried Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies
Trump immediately said: “I haven’t. I like the United States currency. I think the others (cryptocurrencies) have the potential to be a disaster waiting to happen.
“I think we have to strengthen, we have to invest in our currency, not in crypto”.
“They (crypto) may be fake, who knows what that is,” Trump added. “They are certainly something not many people know about”.
So, “No. I’m not a huge (crypto) fan,” he insisted.
Trump: Bitcoin Like Scams
Trump has always been a critic of Bitcoin and other crypto assets. In June, he mentioned, bitcoin “looks like a scam”.
“I don’t like it because it is another currency that competes with the dollar. I want the US dollar to be the currency of the world,” Trump said.
In 2019, while still President of the US, Trump tweeted: “I am not a fan of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, which are not money, and whose value is very volatile and can suddenly change. disappeared.”
“Unregulated crypto assets can facilitate unlawful behavior, including drug trafficking and other illegal activities,” he stressed.
