The creator behind Bitcoin, the world’s biggest cryptocurrency, remains shrouded in mystery. The name Satoshi Nakamoto comes up in a quick search about Bitcoin. But it could either refer to an individual or a group of people. Still, nothing is certain and no one knows the truth behind this name until today.
Bitcoin fans are obsessed with revealing who Satoshi Nakamoto really is, and have taken to pointing fingers to the people behind the cryptocurrency business. However, the person who invented everyone’s favorite cryptocurrency remains anonymous despite their current fortune. As per Forbes, Satoshi Nakamoto is worth at least $19.4 Billion and is also the 44th wealthiest person in the world.
Who Really Is Satoshi Nakamoto?
Among the top contenders fans speculate Satoshi Nakamoto to be is Nick Szabo. Nick wrote the paper “Bit Gold” which served as the precursor to the first cryptocurrency. An online researched named Skye Grey who found unique phrases between Szabo’s writing style and the infamous White Paper where Nakamoto wrote the code for Bitcoin supported this claim. Others claim that Szabo is merely a currency enthusiast whose Bit Gold paper became the foundation for Nakamoto’s own.
The second person Bitcoin fans think Satoshi Nakamoto could be is Dorian Prentice Satoshi Nakamoto. He’s in this list because of how he answered a question by a Newsweek journalist. McGrath Goodman asked him a question regarding Bitcoin, to which he answered these exact words “I am no longer involved in that, and I cannot discuss it. People are in charge of it now. I no longer have any connection.” However, this has long been debunked as Nakamoto thought the reporter was asking him a question regarding his past military work, which is classified information.
Last but not least in this list is Hal Finney, whom fans consider to be the real Nakamoto. He was the second person to use the software and was a pre-Bitcoin cryptographic pioneer. Moreover, he was the first recipient of a Bitcoin transaction. Circumstantial evidence also suggests he exchanged correspondences with Szabo and lived a few blocks away from Dorian Prentice Satoshi Nakamoto.
Despite all these speculations, nothing is certain. The candidates all seem like the real deal, but we can never know for sure.
